Last month it was total chaos here at Golightly Gardens, what with the emergency building work and the kitchen refit and all. We have survived, and the kitchen – although not quite finished – is at least workable.
Shame I can’t say the same for the garden. While the builders did a good job on the structural work inside the house, they also trashed the garden. We have crushed planters, dead plants, broken garden furniture, paving slabs knocked loose from the patio, a hosepipe cut in half, sawdust, paint and plaster all over the place, and one very angry Ms P Golightly.
They promised to come back and fix things, but of course they have turned out to be lazy, lying sacks of manure. Which means that I’ve had enough of waiting and have started to fix the place up myself, or at least fix up what can be fixed. This has taken over all my garden time so far this month, so I’m a bit behind on the usual March gardening tasks and sowing of seeds….
