In association with the very lovely Lewisham Gardens (find them on Twitter and Facebook for updates too), we’re taking over a table at The Station Hotel pub and we’ll be bringing along seeds for flowers, vegetables, fruit etc. There might be a few bulbs, sets and tubers too if you’re lucky.
To join in for free, simply bring along your own items for swapping. And if you don’t have anything to swap then come along anyway, you can make a small charity donation of £1 instead. Proceeds go to a local gardening charity project.
Save yourself some cash!
Many seeds are sold in massive packets, far more that most gardeners can use in an average size garden. By splitting packets up and sharing them, you can get a lot more variety and a garden that’s bursting at the seams with goodness – all for the same low price.
New gardeners are very welcome, and there will be local people on hand if you want advice about what grows well in South London. Gardeners and allotmenteers are always happy to chat and pass on their expertise, and some of them will be bringing along home-saved heirloom seeds as well.
I’ll be there swapping some fruit, vegetable and salad seeds, plus a few seeds for companion plants to help things grow more healthily, and some seeds for plants that the bees love. There will be some small envelopes there too, in case people want to split up and share the contents of packets.
The pub is a friendly local pub in the Lewisham area, and it’s right outside Hither Green train station (slap bang in front of the right hand fork of the main station exit). Hope you can make it.
Get growing, and get sharing!
